It was smiles all round for Robert Smith on the first day (Thursday) of the British Open when he won the main show jumping competition of the day on Mr Michael Dawson's Columbia XI. 

A thrilling competition unravelled in the five horse jump-off but Robert's blistering time on Columbia could not be beaten. "She just keeps improving and I'm delighted with her performance," said Robert after the competition.
